International Combat Organisation and British Kickboxing Council Recognised.

 

 

ICO Sub Strike is a graded Mixed Martial Arts syllabus.

Combining ICO-K1 stand up fighting incorporating punches, kicks, knee and elbow strikes to all points of the body combined with transitions to the ground and submissions from Combat Grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in a controlled environment.

With the emphasis taken away from basic ground and pound this fast growing MMA format attracts the more technical competitors and makes an exciting spectator experience at points and light contact competition level.

Instructor in Chief and creator of the Modern Association of Combat and Kickboxing's unique modern fighting style. A former prodigy of Kick boxing legend Howard Brown under the ECKA, Andy has developed an effective fighting format combining the most effective techniques from Freestyle Karate, Muay Thai, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu and Combat Grappling. Currently Coaching at MACK HQ along with regular Black Belt Courses and seminars, as a 6th Degree Black Belt Andy has 30 years experience as a martial artist at the highest international level and responsible for grading students from across the world in his senior position as Chairman of the International Combat Organisation.

Steve's Kings Heath Club has a history spanning 26 years. In this time it has helped over 250 students become martial artists at all levels. From novice to world champions Kings Heath Club has created an atmosphere that promotes, hard work, discipline, confidence, self worth and fun. Some of it's students have become World Champions, European Champions and British Champions. Kings Heath Club has also helped it's students to achieve their own personal goals from novice to black belt level gaining new friends along the way.

Stephen Cooper has been training with Kings Heath Club for 24 years and has trained in the many syllabuses the club has thought over the years gaining his Black Belt 4th Dan. Steve is a former ECKA British Champion, MACK British Champion and represented England at European level gaining Bronze Medal. Steve became it's latest senior instructor in 2000 and has been busy helping the clubs students reach black belt status, British, European and World Championship level.

Simon Price: Instructor

Simon Price is a 4th Degree Black Belt. Simon has been training for 22 years in martial arts and has always studied under Andrew Hennessy our Instructor in Chief with the ECKA and followed him when he set up his own association.

'Our style of Martial Art is suitable for all types of people, all ages and abilities. Although we are a predominantly a stand up fighting style of martial art we cover all bases including boxing, kick boxing, judo, jiu jitsu, wrestling, thai boxing, grappling, self defence and weapons training. Our training currently focused towards Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), which is an ever increasing popular aspect of the martial arts world. From time to time we have specialist courses where we will bring in different martial artists to teach their style of combat and techniques unique to that style'

Despite not currently running his own club due to work commitments, Simon acts as cover for instructors when sick or on annual leave. Currently training 3 times a week, plus running to increase fitness, He believes that to be a true martial artist you must show dedication, loyalty, discipline and put in 100% effort to achieve the maximum rewards in martial arts that can be earned in this way.

Steve Hingley: 'Substrike' Instructor

Former assistant Coach of Brierley Hill Marauders teaching Sub Strike, Steve is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and has been training for 20 years in Full Contact Karate, K1 Kickboxing and Sub Strike MMA. Steve is a former kickboxing competitor in the WKA and WAKO, a British Championship Silver Medallist and currently an ICO Judging Official.

As a Senior ICO Official and International Referee spanning the world in the WAKO and K1 arena's over a decade, Pete was awarded the 'Instructor of the Year Award' in December 2008. Teaching at MACK HQ on Saturdays, a 1st Degree Black Belt, Peter has been the driving force behind the coaching of two of our World Champions Hannah and Pete Jnr from his Saturday class at MACK HQ in Digbeth.

Shaun's Acocks Green Club situated in The Annexe at the Fox Hollies Leisure Centre. Shaun has been a martial artist for 21 years and a 1st Degree Black Belt, now specialising in Light Contact and Full Contact Kickboxing. Shaun believes that by focusing on developing overall body strength and stamina as well as constantly improving one's technique will support the development of an all round martial artist. Shaun's club is therefore dedicated to improving your fitness levels as well as sharpening your technique. There is a warm and friendly but still disciplined feel to the club and all students are welcome from 5 years of age to 85 years of age, we are all there for one another with the sole intention of constantly and consistently improving our performance.

John Currivan: Acocks Green Instructor & Enrolment Officer

As Acocks Green Club Secretary John is responsible for new recruits training and administration at the club. John is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and he is a qualified ICO D Class Referee for light contact fighting.
